Far Hills: The Smallest Town in Somerset Hills
By BlueBurbia.com
With less than a thousand residents, Far Hills is by far the least populous town in Somerset Hills. There are a limited number of available properties in Far Hills, so often the least expensive offerings start at $600,000 or more.
In the center of Far Hills, there are a few small shopping centers that contain shops such as the Butler's Pantry Deli, Romo Books and Country Curtains, among others. Butler's Trackside at the Far Hills train station also adds a touch of character to the town.
If any of the towns in Somerset Hills are defined by an annual event, it is certainly Far Hills. Every year, the Far Hills Race Meeting is hosted there. A steeplechase that is part of the Breeder's Cup, the "hunt," as it is known to local residents, attracts more than 50,000 spectators annually. This year's running will take place on October 28, 2006.
Far Hills is part of the Somerset Hills School District, and so their students go to Bernardsville for their education from K-12. The length of the bus ride varies depending where the student lives in Far Hills.
